She had a sick feeling in her stomach and a slight headache, it was two months after Ilea had her seizure and now she was safely at school. Dahlia felt the hall start to drain a little and followed the stragglers into the first period of the new school year. Lying on the concrete in front of my house I began to smile, rolling over I reached out to Charlie, but he was fast asleep. Turning back over I stared at the dancing sky, the clouds distorted through my eyes, giggling I reached up and traced my finger around the outline of one. My eyelids fluttered closed, light shot across the darkness, gasping I snapped them open. Like the backdrop of a black and white movie, the vision of a dark wood ballroom flickered in front of his eyes. In the background muted voices whispered, as if the shadows in the balcony had taken on a life of their own. The record player, the only thing on the well lit stage, began to play on its own accord; the first notes of “Dream a Little Dream of Me” filled the stage with emotion.
